Roofing Process

Knowing what goes into a roofing process is more than overseeing a necessary home improvement task. Understanding the roof replacement and installation processes allows you to wisely invest in your property’s future, ensuring durability, aesthetics, and value. Below, we list the steps involved in the process so that you can get a better picture of what Western Roofing Systems will do when we arrive at your home.

Step 1

In the first step, we tear off your existing roof, along with all your old jack and vent pipes and gutters (if you are replacing gutters). After tear-off, we will inspect your roof deck and replace any dry-rot or termite damaged wood.

Step 2

Once we have torn off the roof and replaced any dry rot that needed to be replaced we will begin sheathing the house. Depending on the style of roof you are doing we will either fully sheat the roof deck or install skipped sheathing. If your roof deck is already full sheathed with Plywood or OSB then we would skip this step and just replace Dry-rot.

Step 3

Once the Sheathing process has been completed we will go ahead and lay underlayment on the roof deck. We always install a synthetic underlayment as it is much lighter and longer lasting than your typical felt underlayment.

Step 4

Once the entire house has been sheathed and the underlayment has been installed we will begin installing the Shingles or Panels. We normally get a rooftop delivery then and we will start roofing your home with the required material.

Step 5

While installing your roofing material we will also install all your new jack and vent pipes and paint them to match the color of your roof. We will also install any required valleys, a metal drip edge, and all required ridge trim pieces to get you the best quality roof available.

Step 6

Once all the installation has been complete we will call the city to have them send out an inspector to inspect our work and sign off on the final permit. Western Roofing takes care of all the permit costs and pulls the permit themselves. Once the final permit has been signed the home owner gets to keep the copy for there records. Once everything is completed we will help with any warranty papers required.
